Franki Valley (Valli) formed his first group called Frankie Valley and the Travelers in 1954. The Four Seasons had their roots in 1955 as the Variatones. They became the Four Lovers in 1956 and were also known in various combinations as Frankie Valle and the Romans, the Village Voices, Billy Dixon & the Topics, Hal Miller & the Rays, the Rays, the Four Seasons, the Topics and finally the 4 Seasons in 1961.
